CHARGE NURSE

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Fakeeh Care Riyadh.
  2. Be knowledgeable of patient rights and ensure an atmosphere that allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all patients and staff in a safe, secure environment.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of all data related to patients and hospital operations.
  4. Cooperate and work together with coworkers to plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  5. Use tactful and appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations at all times.
  6. Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, coworkers, or patients regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
  7. Complete requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance in meetings, uniform and dress codes, personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
  8. Maintain accountability for controlled substances inventory and medications at the beginning and end of the shift with another licensed nurse. Notify nursing supervisor or Nurse Manager of any discrepancy.
  9. Ensure that the Medical and Nursing plan of care is carried out, clarifying any areas of uncertainty and referring any disputes regarding clinical management to the appropriate consultant.
  10. Ensure that each crash cart has a daily check completed and is restocked after each use immediately. Any deficiencies must be reported immediately.
  11. Ensure that all bedside nurses are aware of all protocols, procedures, and policies as they relate to their practice on the unit.
  12. Provide direct patient care and ongoing supervision of clinical care to ensure an effective handover of all duties and required information at shift changeover.
  13. Continuously follow up on compliance by staff nurses to Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  14. Maintain high performance of all equipment (monitor, ventilators, beds, etc.). Initiate appropriate follow-up on any equipment needing repair or that has malfunctioned.
  15. Arrange patient movement through the bed placement coordinator for new admissions, transfers, transport, and follow-up regarding inpatient allocation.
  16. Coordinate and monitor activities of staff and all services related to patient care on the unit.
  17. Anticipate, identify, and resolve potential or actual problems.
  18. Ensure effective communication within the unit/department between nursing staff, patients, significant others, and all medical and allied healthcare personnel.
  19. Coordinate nursing staff communication, following up the organizational chain of command for nursing notifications in their reports (Staff Nurse, Charge Nurses, Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Nursing Service Director, and CNO).
  20. Ensure the consistent, accurate preparation of nursing records, monitoring patient goals, and progress towards discharge.
  21. Ability to coordinate and work in multicultural and multinational staff.
  22. Foster collaborative, harmonious relationships with colleagues and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  23. Participate in shared governance decision-making structures and processes that establish standards of practice and address opportunities for improvement.
  24. Promote continuous, efficient, and accountable delivery of nursing care using the Professional Practice Model and appropriate care delivery system.
  25. Provide exemplary professional practice evidenced by effective and efficient care services, interprofessional collaboration, and high-quality patient outcomes.
  26. Participate in programs related to evidence-based practices and research programs and integrate evidence-based practice and research into clinical and operational processes.
  27. Participate in professional development activities designed to improve knowledge, skills, and/or practices in the workplace.
  28. Create partnerships with patients and families to establish goals and plans for delivery of patient-centered care.
  29. Participate in recruitment and retention assessment and planning activities.
  30. Participate in the review, action planning, and evaluation of patient safety data at the unit level.
  31. Disseminate the organization’s nursing research findings to internal and external audiences.
  32. Evaluate and use evidence-based findings in practice.
  33. Participate in the design and implementation of technology to enhance the patient experience and nursing practice.
  34. Seek assistance and escalate operational and clinical issues to the nursing supervisor to resolve situations when needed.
  35. Assist in the training and development of students, trainees, interns, and fresh graduates.
  36. Demonstrate compassionate communication skills while providing support and care to patients, as the patient is the center of our care.

  3. Perform duties as per the code of conduct requirement and ethical standards as outlined in the HCM policies and guidelines.
  4. Complete mandatory education as per the requirement at least one month prior to expiration.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on information relating to quality and safety, accreditation policy management, and document management systems.
