osition: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Emergency Department
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care and Treatment:
- Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiratory rate.
- Provide basic wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for signs of infection.
- Assist in performing diagnostic tests, including POCT ECG and phlebotomy.
- Perform POCT quality control checks.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report observations to the healthcare team promptly.
Patient Support and Education:
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during their stay in the emergency department.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care.
- Assist the registered nurse in preparing patients for discharge.
Emergency Response:
- Assist in emergency procedures, such as Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Help prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for emergency procedures.
Infection Control and Safety:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of infection.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
Supplies and Consumables:
- Ensure that clinical areas are stocked with supplies and consumables.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in emergency care.
- Attend department meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives as required.
Patient Escorting:
- Escort home discharge patients by ambulance.
- Escort admitted patients along with the Registered Nurse.
- Escort stable patients to specialty clinics and the Radiology department.
Equipment Management:
- Perform daily and monthly checks, including E-carts, Broselow carts, and the ambulance medication box.
- Store, manage, and dispense CSSD items.
