Job Summary:
The School Nurse will provide health services in schools and other educational settings. The goal is to treat student injuries or illnesses and advise students, their parents or guardians, and staff on health issues. Your primary responsibility will be to provide health services to students during school hours. This includes treating injuries, addressing mild to acute sicknesses, and supporting students with chronic illnesses. You will also play a key role in preventive care by educating students on how to avoid communicable diseases and maintain proper hygiene.
Nurse Responsibilities:
- Healthcare Provision:
Provide healthcare to students with acute or chronic health problems. - Health Screenings and Referrals:
Conduct screenings and write referrals for necessary health services. - Health Plans:
Develop and monitor health plans for students. - Compliance:
Ensure compliance with national and local health laws and regulations. - Health Education:
Plan and implement educational activities and events to promote health and wellness. - Referrals:
Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists as required. - Safe School Environment:
Ensure the school environment is safe for children and staff, particularly by preventing the spread of communicable diseases.
